Processed Meat Has Been Listed as a Category 1 Carcinogen, Just like Cigarettes and Alcohol
The World Health Organization revealed something shocking about processed meat
Research by the World Health Organization revealed that processed meats are a major cause of cancer. Foods like sausages, bacon, and hot dogs were discovered to the be the most harmful when it comes to increasing your risk of colon cancer.
Processed meats are now in the Group 1 category for carcinogens
Group 1 for things that cause cancer include things like alcohol and cigarettes. Health experts say that, while processed meats aren’t necessarily as dangerous as smoking or drinking alcohol, you should still pay attention to how much you eat to take care of your health.
There are five groups that rank how carcinogenic things can be to humans:
Red meat is considered to be potentially carcinogenic
The World Cancer Research Fund have been supporters of the fact that red meat can increase your chances of cancer. They recommend that people shouldn’t consume any more than 500g of red meat each week.
